Northern Illinois University College of Law awarded Robert Fioretti a Public Service Award at last week’s 2016 Awards Reception, held at the University Club of Chicago.
“Public service is defined in many ways, “says Fioretti, who is a graduate of the NIU class of 1978, “When you have a law degree, you have the power to impact the world. As Ghandi once said ‘You must be the change you wish to see in the world’. It’s not just about being a judge, states attorney, or a public defender. It is about doing pro-bono work in our communities and giving back to our community. My parents had always told me, get a good education, work hard, and give back to the community. The law degree that you have is what allows you to impact the world.”
As the only public law school in the Chicago area, the NIU College of Law is particularly proud to have been named a top law school nationally for diversity, value, and careers in public interest and government service.
